DBIMR Student Achievements!

We at DBIMR always believe that for holistic development of the students it is very important to encourage them to participate and compete in events outside the institute and not to confine themselves within the boundary of the institute.

We also have a bunch of dynamic students who have made the institute proud by not only participating but also wining many events. In this space we would like to appreciate the efforts and congratulate some of our students for their exemplary performance at the various events.

1) AMUL’s “NATIONAL MILK DAY Business Plan Competition”

With immense pride we are happy to announce that our students Mr. Brian Varghese and Mr. Meljhon Peter participated in AMUL's "NATIONAL MILK DAY Business Plan Competition" and were awarded with the trophy of 1st runners-up for presenting a new sustainable model for co-operatives.


2) Mr. Meljohn Peter and Mr. Brain Varghese participated in playing “Tata Crucible: The Campus Quiz 2015” at Hotel Taj Vivanta conducted by the TATA Group in Partnership with CNBC TV18.


3) Mr. Saurabh Salunkhe, Ms. Tamie Cardozo and Mr. Brain Varghese participated and won the runners-up position in the “Business Standard B-School Quiz”.


4) Mr. Brain Varghese presented an Idea of Innovation (Virtual Notes Library) in the Prestigious “International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD), 2015”.


5) Mr. Brain Varghese won the 1st Prize in Debate in Kohinoor Business School Flagship Event “Panache”.


6) Heartiest Congratulations to Ms. Acquelia Fernandes for being selected amongst the top 10 finalists in the category Human Resource Management in the E4-MBA Intercollegiate Summer Trainee Awards 2015 (India Region).


7) MMS 1st Year students participated in NHRD Career Fest held at Nehru Centre, Worli on 19th & 20th February, 2016. It involved knowing about career opportunities across various industries, interacting & networking with industry leaders, earning internship with top corporates, industry insights from recruiters, tips on resume making, group discussions & attending mock interviews.

Mr. Wilson D’souza, Ms. Andrea Sequeira, Ms. Anu Anthony, Mr. Tejas G. Patel & Mr. Lyle Mendes participated & won in an aptitude test that was been held.


8) Our students attended Make in India seminars on Industry – Academia Symposium, sectoral seminar on opportunities in MSMEs and Finance & Taxation, conference on ‘Empowering through Design’, presentation by Hackathon winners and the global design & innovation session. The active participation of the students in the Make in India week helped them renew their motivation, improve knowledge and business presentation skills and communicate & build network with corporate leaders.



Hysteria, the multi-sport event to celebrate the feast of Don Bosco was conducted in the month of Feb, 2016 at DBIT campus. There was healthy participation from students of all the departments including MMS.

MMS students participated in badminton, volleyball, box-stump cricket, football, heats & tug of war. Following are the achievements of the students in this multi-sport event:

  • Girls’ badminton team won the Silver medal. Following were the participants: Ms. Daizy Alexander, Ms. Anu Anthony, Ms. Rowena D’souza, Ms. Prachi Moon, Ms. Harsha Bhatia.
  • Boys’ volleyball team won the Bronze medal. Following were the participants: Mr. Rohan Ahir, Mr. Lyle Mendes, Mr. Roydon Quadri, Mr. Darren Soans, Mr. Nigel Lobo, Mr. Sanket Hegde, Mr. Percy Joy, Mr. Pratik Chalke, Mr. Nipun Samel.
  • Box-stump cricket: Semi-finalists. Following were the team members: Mr. Vinayak Ankalkoti, Mr. Darryl Bosco, Mr. Nigel Lobo, Mr. Amol Jangam, Mr. Akash Gupta, Mr. Lyle Mendes, Mr. Rohan Ahir, Mr. Nipun Samel, Mr. Roydon Quadri, Mr. Shalvin Verghese.



Mr. Percy Joy, Ms. Tresha Miranda, Ms. Prachi Moon, Mr. Dave Fernandes, Ms. Aquelia Fernandes, Mr. Abhishek Chavan, Mr. Clinton Lewis & Mr. Caeser Creado participated in Whitbread Director’s Program, which was held on 19th & 20th February, 2016. An on-field research activity where the purpose served to work efficiently through a list of activities in teams & experience diversity in India’s market place. The students learned how to prioritize their work and targets in order to achieve the maximum output, quick decision-making, developed knowledge about the customer’s preference & insights and the difference between western & Indian culture.

The students met & interacted with the Whitbread CEOs & Managers in the Gordon House Hotel & the Taj Mahal Palace. The students helped them to identify the various common preferences in choice of lifestyles between both individuals in India & around the world. The CEOs were surprised at the number of common preferences and choices Indians have in comparison to the rest of the world. These common preferences helped them devise various marketing strategies for the Indian consumers, made it easier for them.


11) ICICI Direct Virtual Stock Mind:

The virtual stock game enabled the students to invest/ trade in stocks in almost live environment with no exposure to the risks of live market. It assisted the students to know how to build a portfolio, research, evaluate & trade stocks. The stock game was an aid to test their investing skills & instilled an understanding of the need to save & invest at an early age.
